Young jazz musicians to play at Seville Quarter on May 16

A showcase of new talent on the Pensacola jazz scene will take the stage

this month at Seville Quarter.

The Jazz Society of Pensacola “Jazz Gumbo” on May 16 will feature “Dr. Jam" in Phineas Phogg’s, 130 E. Government St.

This group of young jazz musicians has been playing together for more
than year. The musicians have been able to produce music that
touches on a variety of styles and combination of musicians. The jazz
quartet began performing together at the University of West Florida as
members of the school’s Jazz Combo.

An added treat to the show will be a performance by members of Bailey
Middle School Vivace Chorus. The chorus is an auditioned group of 45
singers in the seventh and eighth grade, under the direction of Cynthina
Domulot and Lona Robinson. About 20 students from the Vivace Chorus will
perform vocal jazz selections.

Admission is $7 for Jazz Society members; $10 for guests; $5 for
students with ID; and free for military in uniform. Admission also
includes a free cup of seafood gumbo.

Jazz Gumbo is regularly scheduled on the third Monday of each month.
