The aviation unit from Annapolis, Md., consisting of 9 officers, 23 men, 7 aircraft, portable hangars, and other gear, under Lieutenant John H. Towers as officer in charge, arrived at Pensacola, Fla., on board Mississippi (BB 23) and Orion (AC 11) to set up a flying school. Lieutenant Commander Henry C. Mustin, in command of the station ship Mississippi (BB 23) was also in command of the aeronautic station.
